Acorns (Pre School) learn about 'Caring for Others'

This week, Acorns have been learning about ‘Caring for Others’. We have discussed what it means to care for others and what we can do, including saying nice words to each other, giving a helping hand and sharing.

Acorns took part in ‘The Apple Test’ where there are two apples; one apple was passed around and everyone said something nice to that apple, saying it’s delicious, it’s beautiful etc.. the second apple was then passed along and everyone said not-nice things to that apple, such as it’s disgusting, it’s ugly and “I don’t like you”. The Children were shocked to see the apples when both were cut in half. The good apple was fresh and clear whereas the apple that had not-nice things said to it was bruised inside. The Children learnt that words can hurt us inside if they are not nice.

The Children extended this learning by playing the ‘Kindness Ball’ game, where they threw the ball to one another and gave each other compliments. They all agreed that the nice compliments made them feel good and happy.

In Forest School this week, Acorn class took a stroll through the woods to see all the beautiful Bluebells!
